Reasons to use Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs
There are several reasons which can be quoted in the favor of CFLs. They save money, energy and most importantly are environment friendly. An average consumer saves up to $36 when buying a CFL over incandescent bulb.  CFLs require more upfront but this cost is matched after using CFL for 500 hours.
CFLs last 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. An average Incandescent bulb last for 500 hours to 2000 hours while CFL are guaranteed for 8000 hours. To save more and energy, it is recommended to use these bulbs in the areas where light is used frequently and left on for a long time, such as family rooms, kitchens, living rooms, and porches.
CFLs produce 10 percent less heat than incandescent bulb, which makes them safer to operate. It also reduces the costs associated with cooling the homes and offices.
Are CFLs environment friendly?

So they are environment friendly as they produce less heat and consume less energy. The only drawback of using them is the Mercury used in them. 5mg mercury used in every CFL is a toxic heavy metal that can cause serious health problems to human beings if inhaled and ingested. However this health risk can be controlled by ensuring its safe recycling so they don’t end up in landfills.
With such huge advantages of money, energy and environment, CFLs also come up with many colors, sizes and shapes to fit every consumers needs. When talking about such characteristics, LED lights come into minds. Very similar to CFLs in their attractions, LED lights are also affordable, efficient and energy saving. They are being used to lighten up homes and offices with a style.
So if you have decided to take part in improving environment, saving your hard earned money and lightening the electricity bills then all it takes is changing a bulb. Compact fluorescent light bulbs and LED lights are the lights of future so why not move a step forward to enjoy new technology.
