incandescent bulbIt is called law of time which dictates that with time we need to upgrade ourselves to cope with the time, with the world we’re living in. That’s why cell phone has replaced the land phone, traditional paper books by e-books and many more. Incandescent bulb is such one thing that has been replaced by a far better option to light up our homes and surroundings. The option is LED lighting system. These days this type of lighting is garnering popularity as well as importance over incandescent bulb due to being cheap and energy efficient.
The light-emitting diode (LED) has some few singular characteristics which are making it more acceptable than the traditional one. Couple of such characteristics, which are considered as the main fact beyond the rising popularity of LED are-a. The lumens that is the brightness factor is much more than any incandescent lights; b. The diodes are capable of dimming; c. Unlike the traditional light, this gaining popularity lighting is more energy efficient.
There’re many points which can prove the efficiency of the LED in lighting up and thus causing the replacement. Few of such points are: a. The LED being a solid-state lighting use semiconductor to convert electricity into light and thus leading to cut the energy use by not less than 80%; b. LED incandescent bulbreleases far less heat than the traditional incandescent, which releases approx 90% of their energy as mere heat; c. A single diode can run for 25,000 hours or more which is almost 25 times longer than a traditional bulb; d. LED is finding its applications spread over a number of applications-from traffic lights to television-due to their unique features of having compact size, ease of maintenance and ability of focusing the light in the single direction instead of spreading it around; e. Another factor that’s letting the diode to score over both the incandescent as well as Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) is the presence of mercury in negligible amount thus impacting the environment in negligible approach.
As more we’re moving to the LED lights instead of incandescent bulb to light up our daily life, many companies are coming up with cheap in the cost aspect letting us to buy their unknown brand light. So before selecting a bulb three of the facts we need to check are: a. The lumens-a 40 watt replacement-4-5 LED watt-shall produce around 450 lumens, b. The Color Rendering Index (CRI) of the bulb-up to 100 rendering colors a branded LED promise, c. The warranty-a LED can run for approx 25,000 hours if it’s kept on for 24 hours and 7 days-a cheap unknown bulb comes without this promise.
